Outreach Van

Helping you where you are

Every night from 5:30pm to 9:30pm

The Outreach Van is a mobile community outreach program in Whitehorse. It is aimed at meeting the health, safety and social needs of street-involved youth and adults who cannot or choose not to access existing health services.

It is a joint program between Kwanlin Dün Health Centre, Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Society of Yukon (FASSY) and Blood Ties.

The Outreach Van’s nurses are employed by Kwanlin Dün Health Services. Along with advocating to doctors and other medical professionals for appropriate services on behalf of van clients, the nurses also help in the following ways:  sexually transmitted and blood-borne infection testing and treatment, wound care, nicotine replacement therapy, and other nursing care.

In addition to nursing care, the van provides the following services:

  • Safer injection kits, safer pipe kits, safer snorting kits, and foil kits
  • Needle disposal and pick up (call/text 867-334-1647 for pick up)
